恐吓(cow的过去式与过去分词形式);
使感到胆怯的;自惭形秽的;

这两个词都可表示“牛”。它们的区别是:
cow指母牛,尤指供产奶的乳牛; ox是牛的通称,尤指公牛或阉过的公牛。例如:
He raises cows to sell fresh milk.
他为了卖鲜奶而养奶牛。
He is as strong as an ox.
他体壮如牛。
这些名词均有“牛”之意。
ox泛指野生或驯养的牛类,系动物学的用词,通称,也指公牛。
bull指未经阉割,通常用于配种的公牛,也指西班牙或美洲经专门饲养用作斗牛表演的公牛,引申指彪形大汉。

buffalo指水牛,在美国指野牛。
