dumb, mute, speechless

dumb一般指根本没有说话能力,常指动物; mute 强调为某种原因而沉默; speechless 指哑口无言的。

dumb，mute

这两个形容词均有“哑的，不能说话的”之意。

dumb可与mute换用，但dumb指原本没有说话能力或失去了说话能力。

mute多指因后天疾病而引起的聋哑，有时也指因故不说话。
